4 ways to enjoy the cooler weather at BOOKPLATE
“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” – Albert Camus
With the change of seasons in the air, it’s around this time we all turn our thoughts to hibernating and staying warm. Before you hibernate completely, here are some ways to enjoy the changing of the seasons at BOOKPLATE.
1. Weekend brunch on the terrace
It’s not quite time to hibernate just yet. Gather some friends or family and enjoy the sunshine on the terrace while it’s not too cold (pop on a warm jacket to keep any chilly breeze at bay). Stay for brunch (for menu inspiration read our post on 3 healthy BOOKPLATE breakfasts), or simply enjoy a morning coffee and take in the view of the lake and the autumn leaves.
2. A walk around the lake, followed by a hot drink
Exercise is important year-round, and a brisk stroll around Lake Burley-Griffin is as scenic as it is good for your body and mind. However, autumn can be very windy in Canberra, and if you head out for a lakeside stroll this time of year it’s likely you’ll be feeling very fresh when you’re done! Swing by BOOKPLATE afterward to warm up with a hot chocolate, chai latte, tea or coffee.
3. Cosy up in a booth
The BOOKPLATE space is designed for comfort and warmth, and we invite you to come and dwell in the cosy surrounds while you enjoy a meal or afternoon tea or coffee. Our booths are especially comfy, with their warm tactile fabric upholstery and comfortable cushions. Enjoy a magazine or book while you sip!
4. Set up office in Paperplate
Want to get some research, study or work done? The Lower Ground Floor of the National Library is the perfect location for a quiet spot to put your nose to the grind, not least because our little sister café Paperplate is located there too and serves up fab coffee, healthy snacks and light lunches on-the-go. There’s usually plenty of comfy seating including tables, booths and funky armchairs, and you can use the Library’s free wi-fi – bonus!
