The wine that you pair with a meal is almost as important as the food itself. Our wine connoisseur Matthew Keeley loves a nice drop. Here, he explains how he selects the wines to go with the menu at BOOKPLATE.
What is the most important factor you consider when selecting a wine for BOOKPLATE's menu?
At BOOKPLATE, we only feature wines that we enjoy drinking ourselves. We’ve searched for local as well as imported wines to feature on our current wine list.
Who are our main wine suppliers? Are there any local wineries in the mix?
We stock a number of different wines from Canberra Region wineries. These include Mount Majura Vineyard, Lerida Estate and Eden Road Wines.
What's your favourite wine?
One of my favourites is the La Multa Old Vine Tempranillo. It has a colourful and intense profile complete with raspberry, blackberry and chocolate notes with a medium weight and huge length.
Do you have any hot tips for which wine goes best with which BOOKPLATE dish?
With the recent resurgence in popularity with Australian chardonnays, you can’t beat pairing a glass of Canberra Region Chardonnay from Lerida Estate with BOOKPLATE’s signature Salmon Nicoise Salad for lunch.
